I actually look back and think, where did the time go and why does it have to go so fast? Birthdays, for me, allow me to reflect on the year; what did I do? where did I go? who did I meet? what goals did I achieve? Then I like to dream about what I might accomplish in my next year and get a rush of excitement for the up-and-coming adventure ahead of me. It's one of the best things I've ever done! The course itself was a huge lesson in staying focused (it was nearly snowing and I was shivering and perhaps more physically uncomfortable than I've ever been) and pushing into a place of fear on a sustained basis.
