wow. that makes so much sense. i'm in nursing school. and i'm so busy so i dont exercise anymore. I say to myself " i dont have time, i need to study ". but what good is studying doing me if when i graduate, i've gained so much weight that i cant even do my job. that's a great way to look at things. thanks :)

Hello Jennifer
My thoughts exactly. I am an acupucturist and find so many times that people would much rather spend their money on anything but themselves. There are many consequences to these actions including a slow breakdown in their various physiological functions.

Ian

PS. I came to your article via twitter!

I just had a birthday myself so I know what you mean. I actually look back and think, where did the time go and why does it have to go so fast? Birthdays, for me, allow me to reflect on the year; what did I do? where did I go? who did I meet? what goals did I achieve? Then I like to dream about what I might accomplish in my next year and get a rush of excitement for the up-and-coming adventure ahead of me. Birthdays are a new chapter that's just begun :)

Hope your birthday is awesome, Jennifer!

Birthdays are a time of reflection and a general "check-in" for me -- I often use them as the lamp post of my life, and stop and check my pulse before continuing on to the next goal, so to speak.

Hard to say. Usually when I give up something it's because it wasn't really suited for me. The things we stick with are the things more aligned with who we really are, I think. What would Netchick say?

I took my course down in Bellingham last month, bought my motorcycle soon after. It's one of the best things I've ever done! The course itself was a huge lesson in staying focused (it was nearly snowing and I was shivering and perhaps more physically uncomfortable than I've ever been) and pushing into a place of fear on a sustained basis. And yes, it's a LOT about letting go and finding a place of comfort in that space. Great post!

It is truly the best think ever - riding a motorbike. Next to skiing that is. I have been riding for 4 years, and totally love it. Riding is about focus, freedom, and feeling it. <br />Have fun!
